We must Invest in Security

Before Justice, or Alongside Justice is Security

The fact that we have had to abandon our normal lives or interrupt our life choices in order to stay safe, means that at some point there has been a violation of the law.

Many violations of the law, include security threats and breaches.

A violation of a person’s security, privacy, civil and human rights and/or organisation’s security.

A violation of an organisation’s security, is a violation of security for the people. The customers of the organisation become targets of crime, and crime victims.

At some point, security has been breached.

The importance of Personal Safety for citizens is linked to the need to establish Human Security, a people-centered notion of Security, which recognizes that all individuals, in particular vulnerable people, are entitled to Freedom from Fear and freedom from want, with an equal opportunity to enjoy all their Rights and fully develop their Human Potential

The consequence of the lack of Security is crime.

When crime happens, there is first an emergency call for help.

Security.

Law Enforcement.

If Security and Law Enforcement fail, there is no security. And there is a door wide open to continue to crime. And to destroy healthy lives.

The affected life or lives, are unsafe and vulnerable to the full unfoldment of crime.

And to the consequences of the crime.

Today they may be alive, tomorrow they may be dead.

Today they may have an eye, tomorrow they may be blind.

Today they may be healthy and with family, purpose life, career and friends, tomorrow they may be gone.

Ignoring Security Breaches and Security Threats, leaves innocent human beings vulnerable, injured, injusticed, and never safe, never at peace. It is not just the one injured life that is in danger. It is all the other lives affected by the crimes. Past victims, New Victims and Future Victims.

Worst than crime is Denial of Security.

Worst than crime is denial of the fact that crime happened  – denying that the crime happened or is happening, by responsible parties or affected parties or law enforcement, putting security and lives in danger and at risk.

Police has a job to do.

When police fails to take cases seriously and to do the work to investigate, and put criminals in jail, it puts all the heavy load on the victims. Many of which are not trained police officers. Nor trained security personnel.

The victim is called to be aware 24/7 and to self-defend.

The victim is called to become an investigator and to fight for Justice.

The victim is called to change his/her normal life and routine to adapt to a life whereby the crime is alive.

Raising Capital to Fund Lack of Hospitality Compensation?

The victim is called to privately pay for private security. If he/she can afford.

Still the real issue is not solved. The crime is freedom. The victims lose their freedom due to lack of safety and life risk.

When it comes to Hospitality Injury to Guests, we must address the fact that Hospitality Companies have Duty of Care towards its Guests.

Security is expected. Safety is expected. In fact, guests who wish to stay safer may choose a Hotel instead of a vacation rental by an individual owner. This still does not take responsibility from individual hosts and companies hosting human life, from Duty of Care.

Whenever there is a Security Breach in a Hotel, be it overt or discreet, it poses a risk to all guests. When hotels fail to take responsibility for this, to detect and remediate immediately, the crime expands. The Hotel is responsible for the Security of its Guests. As such it must take measures to keep the hotel premises and guests safe at all times.

The Start of Security Breach in Hotels

Before an actual security breach, a security breach starts way before, through lack of adequate security and staff training, which combined make a hotel responsible for its implementation.

The focus of profits without care, at the cause of all subsequent injuries.

The security breach starts from the minute a criminal is allowed in.

There are criminals who act like criminals, and show up unauthorized and gain illegal unauthorized access to premises and rooms.

There are smooth operator criminals, that pose as guests.

They check in as guests and stay as guests, and then crime the hotel and its guests.

As such failing to do ID Verification, failing to have Camera Surveillance, failing to Secure the Hotel Internet, failing to Secure Rooms and have thought of every possible security breach scenario and planning for immediate response, can have fatal consequences on its Guests.

The Security Breach

At this stage we have security breach, either detected or undetected.

When a security breach is undetected, it begins to affect guests, undetected until brought to light.

When a guest becomes aware that something is wrong, it can be on already critical emergency stage or the early signs. Whatever stage the guest becomes aware, reporting is done to the Hotel whenever possible. To give the hotel the responsibility to fix.

If a woman or child is sleeping in her hotel room, and has hotel room intrusion, by a criminal or even an harrasser staff who violates the law, it is the hotels legal responsibility to Protect the Guests. 

When Hotels refuse to take responsibility, they indirectly side with crime.

There are only two sides – a Hotel either Protects the Guests or Protects Crime. If to Protect the Hotel from its own Legal Duties and Legal Responsibilities, the Hotel Injures a Guest or Turns a Blind Eye on Crime that happened in its premises, the hotel is taking the side of crime.

Legally, a Hotel has Duty of Care towards the Guests.

Hotels who Refuse to Take Responsibility

Hotels who refuse to take responsibility do it for financial profits and their own relaxation, instead of the Peace of Guests. They don’t want to deal with this interruption of work as profit, to address life. They also don’t want to be sued and lose money. They don’t want to be found out and be prosecuted for negligence. So they blame the victim, the guest.

They stay silent, refuse to help, refuse to comment, refuse to help. None of this erases the injury.

As a consequence, it is guests who have to deal with an interruption of life. An interruption of work and profits. Because they went to sleep.

It is this very behavior that leads to Hotel Lawsuits. The fact that they don’t take responsibility, at times even being rude to the affected guest and acting as if the injured guest is annoying to their rest and work. And the fact that the hotel turns a blind eye on the injury and damages to the guest have occurred. The Guest does not rest any longer and must get to work. A new unpaid job, Fighting for Justice.
